My name is Annika Sumner I am 33 years old and my passion is working with animals of all kinds. My love of animals comes from an early age I wanted to work with the monkeys in the rain forest. But that kind didn’t happen but the passion to work with any animal is a great experience.
I started out at Brinsbury college after my school years and I did a course in nvq2 animal care, of which I enjoyed greatly, after completing animal care I went on to work for the college and became an animal technician for the reptile unit. I have also had many work experiences in the veterinary industry and also an animal sanctuary with wild animals which was a great experience. My next project was running a rather large pet retail outlet in which I had the day to day running on my own of cleaning out animals, caring for the animals, ordering, stock taking, pet advice and much more. I then decided that I wanted to go back to college and try out dog grooming. So I enrolled back into college and started in foundation level in dog grooming, well this was exactly what I new I wanted to do as it was hands on and practical just like me. It was tough in the first year as there was so much to learn, first aid, how to wash and bath and much more.

Well after completing my first year I wanted to try something else so I did not work with animals for around 7 years. I also had met someone at the time and we had a child together and other things took me different places. After having my little girl ellie I decided to then o back to college and finish my dog grooming course for another 2 years as this was what I really wanted to be. once I completed that I started to grooming very small odd jobs here and their. I went back in to the pet trade industry and free lance groom in a shop one day a week as their is a vast clientele in the area. I now have been mobile grooming properly since April last year, and I love it. I have a great rapport with my existing customer and hope to have the same with new clients and most importantly their dogs.
So that’s just a little taster in to my life and past experiences . My aim is to make the animals feel as comfortable as possible and make their grooming experience a good experience and not a bad one.
This picture was taken at farlington all girls school in Horsham 2007 in which for the past two years the girls have organised a fun dog show. They have kindly asked me for two years running now to be a judge at their show. Its a fun day out for your family and dogs.
